When planning a project such as a storage shed or a garden shed you need to take a couple of things into consideration before you start.

Where will you place your shed on the property? Most towns have ordinances on where these types of structures can be located on the property. Don’t ignore this, check with your town before deciding where to build your shed.

Is the area for the shed on level ground or on a hill? If the location is on a hill it may mean the excavation of a level area or installing cement piers to properly support the structure.

And most importantly, what will you be putting into your storage shed? You really need to consider what you will be storing in the shed and how much space each individual item may take up. You won’t be happy if you have to climb over the tractor to get to something behind it. Build your shed a little bigger than you think you’ll need and prevent the dissapointment.

With these steps complete, you are ready to search for the shed design that best fits the theme of your house and property.
